THE RIVER AND SEA

LOVE AND DISTANCE

A river and the sea once flowed as one,
Their hearts meeting beneath the monsoon sun.
The river’s laughter — a lightning glow,
The sea’s embrace — a warmth below.

But storms don’t whisper before they break,
They tear through the silence, they make hearts ache.
Rain fell heavy, and both hearts cried,
Till the river drifted with the changing tide.

Now the river roams in lands unknown,
While the sea still waits where love was sown.
For some loves, no storm can sever —
They ache… and they wait… forever.

And in the hush when the night turns deep,
The sea calls out, though no one will keep.
Through seasons, through years, through endless skies —
It waits for the day the tide replies.
