A WEARY MAN’S REST

By Bassey Jewel

Pant, pant, O weary man, pant;

Weary from the whole day’s task.

Rest your head on nature’s grace,

Till thou, in your dreams, embrace

Life’s very own gift of nature.

Sleep, sleep, O tired friend, sleep;

Retire from all life’s deceit.

Find stillness in this night so drear,

For morning, my friend, is just so near

  • Poet's note

    A Weary Man’s Rest reflects the poet’s meditation on human weariness and the search for peace after life’s struggles. Through the calming presence of nature, the poem urges rest and renewal of the body and soul. Its tone is gentle and reflective, showing that even in life’s darkest moments, hope and new beginnings await with the coming of morning.
